INCLUDES A FREE BAG OF OUR HOUSE BLEND, NOSE TO THE GRINDSTONE, MEDIUM GROUND FOR YOUR NEW V60.
A classic, mess-free method to brewing an excellent speciality coffee. A special set of plastic V60 dripper (02 size) and filter paper (40 pcs), an optimal combination for all pour-over coffee brewers!
The plastic dripper is preferred by professionals, competitors and coffee houses all over the world as its heat conductivity makes it the best for precise brewing.
Hario V60 Dripper Features
The cone shape of the Hario V60 dripper allows the layers of coffee grounds become vertically thicker than on the flat surface of the trapezoid dripper. The cone-shaped dripper lets hot water flow toward the center, allowing it to stay in contact with the coffee grounds longer and ensuring a proper extraction of taste and aromatic constituents from the coffee grounds.
When the coffee grounds are saturated in the V60 Filter, the high ribs do not hinder their expansion and a layer of air is created between the paper and the dripper. The twisted ribs prevent the paper and the dripper from sticking, letting the air through and allowing the grounds to expand adequately This promotes a smooth extraction.
Singular, Large Hole
The Hario V60 Dripper features one single, large hole in the base of the cone dripper. This makes the tip of the paper protrude through the hole, allowing the hot water, unrestricted by the dripper, to perform extraction closer to that of a cloth filter. By changing the speed of pouring, you can brew coffee with your preferred taste, stronger or lighter.
Hario V60 Instructions
We recommend starting with a 1:15 coffee-to-water ratio when brewing pour over coffee. So for every 1 gram of coffee, add 15 grams of water. (1L of water, weighs 1000g, so 15ml for every gram of coffee)
We suggest you use a ratio of 18-20g & 300ml of water for one serving. The coffee should be ground to a medium coarseness, which we can do for you in-house or can be done at home using a grinder (We highly recommend using a conical burr grinder, made for coffee, rather than a blade-style grinder, such as our Timemore Chestnut C2 Hand Grinder)
For the baste taste results, we recommend using filtered water. Boil the water and wait 1 minute to let the water cool to approximately 95C (Unless you have the ability to set your temperature on your kettle). Place the filter paper in the V60, place the V60 over a mug and pour some water over the filter paper to rinse away any paper taste and warm the V60 around the mug. Once soaked through, discard any water that has fallen though into the mug.
If you are using scales, such as our Timemore Black Mirror, place the pour over onto the scales and reset the weight. Add the coffee grounds, ensuring they are evenly spread, then pour enough water to thoroughly wet the grounds, then wait for around 30 seconds. (You can use the timer on the Timemore Black Mirror here)
Slowly pour more water, using a circular motion, avoiding the edges where the grounds meet the paper. Stop pouring when the scales read 300g - the whole process should take around 2 and a half minutes.
